Military is Yuma's second largest industry and is an important contributor to Yuma's economy. The Yuma Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) supports 80% of the Corp's air-to-ground aviation training with access to 2.8 acres of bombing and aviation training ranges - not to mention the great flying weather! The U.S. Army Yuma Proving Grounds (YPG) ensures that the weapons systems and equipment issued to our soldiers functions safely and as intended. Each day throughout the year, numerous tests take place in the proving ground's harsh, realistic environment.

Smucker Park is home to a mile-long walking and jogging trail that has been voted Yuma's best place to walk and jog.
For a leisurely bike ride or tranwuil walk, the East Main Canal trail has a paved path with no inclines and runs uniterrupted from 8th street to 20th street.
Colorado River
The Colorado River is a great vehicle for outdoor fun! With opportunities for tubing, kayaking, canoeing, float-downs and boat rides, it's almost impossible to find an excuse to stay out of the water. For those who prefer to lounge in the sand and water, Gateway Park features a public beach as well as walking trails, park equipment and ramadas.
